Nice example of this difficult colour. SH Argente Creme buck Rapunzel's Whispers |
Argente Creme is similar in appearance to the normal Argente except that the light fawn is replaced by deep cream and the belly is reduced to pure white. This colour is genetically pink eyed Chinchilla or in other words, Chinchillated Argente. If no Argente Cremes are available, it can be produced by introducing the pink eyed dilution to the Chinchilla through normal Argente. The first generation will be Agoutis, but interbred they will produce Argente Creme. It is essential that the top is deep cream to form the contrast to the belly. Like Argente, the Argente Creme has a blue undercolour, but it should be very pale.
Actually, it is not as easy as it sounds. This is because the chinchilla gene and pink-eyed gene are located in the same locus. Therefore, for an Argente Cream to appear, there needs to have happened a so-called "crossing over" in the locus.
